The incident has triggered discussion on social media, where railway pantry staff are often accused of overcharging passengers, while allegations of other railway employees engaging in cash transactions also surface from time to time. In the latest viral video, a railway attendant is seen openly offering a seat to passengers in exchange for money.
Arohi Shukla, who wrote about the incident in detail on X, identifies the attendant seen in the video as Prashant Kumar. According to the information shared in the post, he is an AC coach attendant on a train running between Bihar and Delhi.
The video shows the attendant approaching two passengers sitting near the gate who have waiting tickets. He allegedly offers them a full seat for Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 and tells them that they can travel comfortably. However, the passengers and the attendant get into an argument over the amount.
During the conversation, the attendant explains the difficulties involved in his job and claims that five TTEs come through the train during the entire journey and that all of them would have to be managed. He says, “If we take less than Rs 2,500, there will be nothing left for us.”
The attendant further claims that once the passengers buy the seat from him, the TTE will not disturb them. His confidence in discussing the arrangement has drawn attention on X, particularly because the conversation was being recorded.
Commenting sarcastically on the video, Arohi Shukla wrote, “Bro is overconfident, he thinks he is the Railway Minister. Bro says, give me Rs 2,500 and from Bihar to Delhi, no one will bother you.”

The user also made a sarcastic appeal to the railway authorities to take action against the attendant.
The video has also prompted some users to focus on the fact that the attendant was at least offering a seat. One user reacted, “At least he is giving a seat. IRCTC does not even do that, even after taking money, the ticket does not get booked.”
Another user commented, “Everyone takes it, what is special about this? These people sell their seats, and the TTE also knows about it.”
The viral footage has therefore brought attention to an alleged cash-for-seat arrangement involving a railway attendant, while the comments on social media have also highlighted claims by users about similar practices involving seats and ticket-checking staff.
